Car accidents are an all too common occurrences in Pennsylvania. However, bus accidents are less common. A recent car accident in Hamiltonban Township involved a church bus and a pickup truck, leaving several injured.

Authorities indicate that the accident occurred at a local intersection in Adams County. The bus driver was transporting approximately 20 children was on their way to an unknown destination. A 48-year-old woman was driving in the northbound direction when she collided with the passenger side of the church bus. Nine of the children on the bus sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

It is unknown if the driver of the bus or the driver of the truck sustained any injuries. There were no known citations issued in the immediate aftermath of the accident. Authorities are still investigating this matter to document exactly what happened.

As the authorities continue their investigation into this car accident, more details may emerge as to what caused the woman to collide with the church bus and what other relevant factors were involved. The legal guardians of the children that were injured may be entitled to pursue personal injury claims against the driver of the pickup truck and any separate owner of the vehicle she was operating. Likewise, a claim could be properly made against the bus driver and the bus driver’s employer should the evidence suggests negligence in the operation of the church bus contributed to the accident and injuries that resulted. The civil court system in Pennsylvania typically adjudicates these types of lawsuits based upon evidence that the injuries that were sustained were caused by negligence of another party.
